National League of Poker Creates New Site
Online poker players from around the world, the United States included, will be pleased to learn about the launch of a brand new subscription-based online poker site. The product is thanks to an agreement signed with the United States based National League of Poker and the digital media company, Players Network. It is estimated that the new poker site will reach 121 million homes across Europe and another 22 million in the United States alone.
The deal will allow Players Network to gain access to the National League of Poker’s registration database, thus expanding its marketing base substantially. The media company will also have advertising space on the new site and earn itself commission on free and subscription players who sign up at the site.
“NLOP's graphics and player friendly environment makes it the ideal free/subscription poker technology for us to offer consumers under the Players Network Brand,” said the President of Programming at Players Network, Michael Berk. “NLOP has an interactive social network for poker players, and provides the perfect demographic for Players Network to market our services to.”
“With our unparalleled ability to run ads for Players Network Poker Club on our proprietary programming in over 22 million TV homes in the United States, 121 million TV homes in Europe and on our Broadband and Mobile platforms, Players Network has the potential to reach more potential members than any other poker site out there.”
The fact that the new Players Network Poker Club is subscription based means that US players will be able to participate quite freely, standing in line to win lucrative prizes valued up to $50,000 each and every month.
(Old) New CEO for Chartwell Games
Chartwell Games, the wholly owned subsidiary of Chartwell Technology Inc., has announced that it is welcoming back Lee Richardson to the post of Chief Executive Officer, after an absence of two years. The period between 2007 and 2009 saw Jim Godsell act as CEO, and he has now left Chartwell Games to pursue other opportunities, according to the company
Richardson announced his departure from Chartwell Games two years ago after it shifted its operations from the United Kingdom to Malta. He has held a number of important executive posts in top gaming companies and organizations, including the Marketing Director of the British Horseracing Board, the Chief Operating Officer of Coral Eurobet, and the Managing Director of Tote Direct.
“I am very excited to be rejoining Chartwell at this important time in its growth and expansion,” said Lee Richardson, when asked about taking up his former position once more. “This is a fast-moving industry, and I intend to see that Chartwell, with its first class people, products and services, gets more that its share of that growth.”
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Lee back to the Chartwell Team,” said Dave Acorn, the Chief Operating Officer for Chartwell, and the person to whom Richardson will answer. “As we focus on the rollout of our new products and expanded client services, Lee's extensive industry background will help develop new market areas for our unique business model and technology.”
“He will also provide proven leadership to all our international staff in Malta, London and Singapore,” said Acorn. “With our expanded European presence we will now be able to fully utilize Lee’s skills and experience.”
Calls for Standardized Legislation for Australian Gambling Market
Land based operators in Australia are calling for the government to make changes to existing gambling laws that would essentially regulate online casinos in the same way that other gambling establishments are in the country. Specific calls have come from Clubs Australia, who claim that there is not enough demand on these sites to uphold responsible gambling policies.
"Standardizing gambling laws would mean online operators would be banned from accepting bets placed with a credit card and offering gambling inducements such as $1000 in free bets, and would also be required to have staff trained in responsible gambling," said David Costello, the Chief Executive of Clubs Australia. "If you go to Centrebet website and click on 'Responsible Gambling', you will be redirected to a website in Los Angeles which offers nothing more than an email address."
