32Red Optimistic about Rest of 2010
32 Red Plc, the Gibraltar based, London trading online gambling group, released its financial results for the first half of 2010. The betting group said that in the first six months of the year, revenue rose by 33 percent to a total of £7.8 million. The best performing sector was the group’s online casino operation which saw a growth of 29% year on year. Poker did reasonably poorly, with 32Red’s poker arm showing a 14% year on year decline.
“Our strong first half performance is particularly pleasing given the challenging economic conditions in the United Kingdom, which remains our core marketplace,” said Ed Ware, the Chief Executive Officer for 32Red.
“We believe that the 32Red brand and its core values continue to provide us with the tools to penetrate the online and mobile casino market successfully,” he continued. “Another period of strong recruitment at reduced cost per acquisition rates since the end of 2008 gives us optimism for the prospects of the business going forwards. The group has further strengthened its balance sheet and, having repaid all outstanding bank debt, will increase marketing spend during the second half of the year.
Ware said that while the focus of the business remains in the United Kingdom, 32Red’s board continues to monitor regulatory developments around the world, including in Europe and hopes to expand into new markets that should provide attractive opportunities.”
