Friday 13th Turns Out to be Lucky Day for Ladbrokes Player
Friday the 13th will definitely be one day that a lucky player from London will never forget. The player decided to access Ladbrokes Casino, the Microgaming powered online gambling site, and try his luck on the slot machines. He headed for the popular Mega Moolah Isis game, which has a reputation for paying out well, since it was only last month that a player hit a big prize on the same game at the same site. Imagine the player’s delight when he accessed the game using free chips that he had earned in another promotion, and won the top prize of £75,000!
The head of Marketing at Ladbrokes Casino, the Microgaming, Charlie Goodenough, was excited about the win and said: "A £75,000 win on Friday the 13th is amazing. It just goes to show that this day can be lucky for some!"
"We have had so many big winners in the last few months that 2010 is starting to look very good for our customers," he added. "So much so that it would not surprise me if someone scooped the GBP 4 million on Mega Moolah soon."
Party Poker Rolls out “The Snowball” Promotion
Party Poker, the leading online poker site, has rolled out its brand new promotion for the month of September, The Snowball. Players can stand in line to win cold, hard cash and entry into freerolls - thanks to the promo that will run from September 1st to 30th at Party Poker. Poker players simply need to keep playing at real money tables at the site and move up the different levels – keeping everything they win in the process. A player who earns 50,000 points, for example, will get $5,000 in cash and $100,000 worth of freeroll entries. Only earning five points will still earn a player a $5,000 freeroll entry – meaning that this promotion has been designed with all players in mind.
“This is the promo that suits every player regardless of their level,” said a spokesman for Party Poker. “If you are a Palladium VIP you will relish the challenge of winning so many prizes. For our less experienced players this is a great chance to play in some big money freerolls.”
“Remember,” reminded the spokesman, that the stash of prizes will get bigger and bigger the more a customer plays. Make sure you take your best shot with The Snowball.”
$96K Jackpot Won at WinADay Casino
A player who has been a member of the entertaining WinADay online casino since it was first launched had his loyalty rewarded when he pocketed $96,000 this week. The player, Glenn P. played the Leprechaun Lucky slot game at the instant play Win A Day Casino which is a sister site to Slotland Casino, and became the lucky winner soon after. The appeal of Lucky Leprechaun is not only in its five reels and 31 pay lines, but also its great bonus features such as wilds and double wilds, and bonus games that pay out very well. Glenn managed to land five rainbow symbols, winning nearly $100K in the process.
Asked why he enjoys playing at WinADay, Glenn said: “The first time I went to WinaDay I thought, hmm, this is different. I’d played at a few online slots sites but I’d never seen anything like their unusual slot machines. Then they just kept adding more new games so I just kept playing there. Who knew one day I’d hit a big jackpot like this!?” “Considering this player hit the jackpot playing Leprechaun Luck,” said WinaDay manager Michael Hilary, “I hope he’s including Ireland on the big European vacation he told us he’d be taking with his winnings!”
South African Court Bans Online Gambling
Online gambling operators in South Africa are contravening the law by offering their services to the country’s gamblers, according to a new ruling handed down by a Gauteng high court. Operators could face jail time of up to 10 years, a fine of R10 million or both. The Gauteng Gambling Board confirmed that the ruling meant that online casinos are liable for prosecution. The Head of Legal Services for the Gambling Board, Lucky Lukhwareni said in a statement: “That's why we approached the media to alert them of the judgment which makes online casino operations illegal, and if they continue we will have them arrested and fight for conviction.”
The ruling ends years of debate over the legality of online gambling in South Africa in an industry that is worth over R16 billion each year. South Africans reportedly wager around R212 billion on gambling activities each year, with 7% of that spent online.
South African gambling operators have replied that they will appeal the finding and that business will continue as usual until such time.
