Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation Earns Highest Industry Certification

It was a proud moment for the Canadian lottery group, the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, when it learned that it had achieved one of the highest accreditations available to any lottery group in the world. NSGC was awarded Level 4 by the World Lottery Association on the Social Responsibility scale. This is the highest award available on the scale and makes NSGC one of the first lotteries to achieve this honor.

“Social responsibility is the cornerstone of every decision we make,” said Marie Mullally, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation. “This formal recognition from a well-respected panel of social responsibility experts is one we are extremely proud of.”

The meet the tough Level 4 standards set by the World Lottery Association, the Canadian group had to prove that it met social responsibility standards across over 20 areas, including retailer and public training, public reporting and more.

John Luff, an Independent Assessment Panel member for the World Lottery Association said: “For years now NSGC has been driven by a commitment to social responsibility. This award takes that commitment to another level. This means putting that commitment to the toughest industry scrutiny. It means global recognition. And it means other lotteries will look to NSGC for help and guidance. In my opinion, NSGC and Nova Scotia should be justly proud.”

Gambling Groups Praise US Senator Efforts to Regulate Internet Wagering

As the United States gets ready to launch its biggest reforms ever in terms of health care, many are worried how the Obama administration intends to fund this very ambitious project. While there is no doubt that universal health care is very much needed in the United States, it cannot be ignored that to implement such a venture will cost the government billions of dollars.

Senator Ron Wyden has decided to offer the Obama administration an alternative source of income by introducing an amendment that will regulate the country’s online casino industry. Industry analysts have said that regulating and legalizing online gambling sites could very well lead to around $6 billion each year through taxation and licensing fees – an amount that would certainly go a long way in paying for expensive health reform.

The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative is pleased with the ongoing efforts to bring about change in the current industry and has encouraged Senator Wyden and others, such as House Committee on Financial Services Chairman, Barney Frank, to continue their hard work.

“We applaud Senator Wyden's proposal to collect and put to good use tens of billions in Internet gambling revenue that would otherwise be lost in the underground marketplace,” said a spokesperson for the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative. “The Senate Finance Committee should approve the resolution, finally putting to an end a failed prohibition on Internet gambling that leaves Americans unprotected and unlicensed offshore operators as the only beneficiary in a thriving marketplace.”

Oktoberfest Comes Online

Due to the success of a similar promotion that was run at Vegas Red online casino last year, the Playtech affiliate group, Euro Partners has announced that it will be launching an Oktoberfest promotion across all its affiliate sites until October 5th. The competition brings alive the spirit of one of the most popular beer festivals in the world, traditionally held each October in Germany. This year, Euro Partners decided to bring their own festival to sites such as Casino Tropez, Titan Casino and Europa Casino by offering players the chance to win beer for a whole year – a prize worth €3000!

Euro Partners Marketing Vice President, Marc Kenigsberg said about the promotion:

“Our casinos always look to host fun and exciting promotions that will keep players happy. Following the resounding success we had last year with the Oktoberfest promotion at Vegas Red, we decided to host this promotion again and have it run in an additional three casinos.”

Players who make the most wagers from September 22nd to October 5th will find themselves on the top of the leader board. The player who remains at the top by the end of the promotion will win the first prize. Additional prizes will be awarded to another 11 players on the leader board, with prizes worth up to €500 up for grabs. Prost!
