Alderney Gaming Control Commission Issues 100th License

The Alderney Gaming Control Commission announced this week that it had awarded its one hundredth online gambling license, proving that there is no stopping the growth of this lucrative industry. The milestone licensee is Relax Gaming Network Limited, a group which is making waves in the industry ahead of its launch of the new Fast Poker product. Fast Poker is said to be the industry’s answer to Rush Poker, which was forced out the market when Full Tilt Poker was shut down by the US Department of Justice. It will be in direct competition with PokerStars’ Zoom Poker, which is also set to launch in the coming weeks.

The Head of e-Commerce for Alderney, Robin Le Prevost said that the issuing of the 100th license only confirmed the island’s status as “the place to be” for online gambling operators.

“The commission has got very high standards,” he said. “They’re not going to lower that in any way just to attract more numbers.”

Interestingly, Alderney was the gambling jurisdiction which had issued Full Tilt Poker with its operation license, and which swiftly removed it after the DOJ clampdown last April.
