Ladbrokes Gets Green Light to Enter Italian Gambling Market

Ladbrokes gambling group, like so many other companies, has been trying hard to enter the newly reformed Italian gambling market. The group recently applied for an operating license to provide poker tournament services to Italian poker players and this week it was learned that the Italian regulators, AAMS, approved the application. As such, Ladbrokes will be allowed to enter the largest European poker market from January.

Recent statistics shows that gross revenues from the Italian poker market should generate more than EUR 280 million in 2009, with operators flocking to the country following changes in gambling laws.

“We are committed to expanding the international reach of our online business and Italy is an excellent regulated market opportunity,” said the Chief Executive Officer of Ladbrokes, Christopher Bell. “We hope that further positive regulations in Italy will allow us to further expand our product range by launching cash games in poker, as well as bingo and casino gaming.”

Ladbrokes, which is one of the world’s leading online gambling groups, is hoping to expand its services to the Italian market to include casino gaming and poker cash games after further changes in Italian law take place.
