“Best Online Player on the Planet” Joins Betfair

Betfair.com, the popular gambling site that offers sportsbetting and casino services alongside its poker room, has announced the latest player to join its Team Betfair. Twenty-one year old Sorrel “Imper1um” Mizzie, a top Canadian player, will join other poker professionals such as Swedish teen wunderkind, Annette Obrestad, to make up one of the best teams on the internet.

In his first year of live tournament play, Mizzie earned himself an incredible $600,000, coming third in the Irish Open. However, his real gift lies in online poker, where he has been voted the “best online poker player on the planet” by PokerVerdict.com and top contender by PocketFives.com.

Bruce Stubbs, Head of Poker for Betfair.com was notably pleased about welcoming Mizzie to the site and its activities: “I am proud to add a player like Sorel Mizzi to our team,” he said, “He is regarded as one of the best online tournament players in the world by many and has the results to prove it.”

Mizzie, too, considered his move over to Team Betfair to be a good one for his budding poker career. He said this week: “Overall, 2007 was a great year for me and by joining Betfair Poker in 2008 I’m getting in with a team that not only has a great reputation but, more importantly, it’s going places.”

Multiplayer Skill Games for Real Money Now Online

World Gaming, a Canadian-based company, has announced the launch of an online network to facilitate skill games for real money on a one-on-one or multiplayer basis. In the first stage of its launch, players can sign up to become part of a closed beta trial period, where they can play all their favorite skill games against other players from around the world, and stand in line to win up to $50,000.

Phase two of the launch will be the official opening of the site to the general public in the next quarter after a strong player base has been established. Players can then take part in exciting top games in the industry, such as Microsoft’s Xbox and Xbox 360, as well as Playstation Two and Three by Sony. Games will be offered in a wide range of options, from simple one-on-one challenges to action packed multiplayer versions.

By emphasizing the skill element (that overrides the luck factor) in all the games on offer, WorldGaming.com will be legal to play in over 130 countries in the world, including most states in the US.

The focus of WorldGaming.com will also be on the social side of gaming, allowing players to create online profiles, chat to their opponents and add friends to their lists.

Lucky Player Grabs a Fortune through Freeroll Promotion

A lucky player walked away from BlackjackBallroom.com over $300,000 richer this week, after he took part in a lucrative freeroll promotion. The Finnish player, identified online as RR, took advantage of the site’s generous one hour and $500 free-of-charge campaign to try his luck at one of the many jackpot progressive games available on the site. In no time at all, he had hit the jackpot on Poker Ride progressive game with a Royal Flush, suddenly finding himself with $309,766 in his back pocket.
